Creativity

New media fosters a wealth of creativity because it tends to provide a collaborative forum that promoted the exchange of ideas. Often these ideas lead to new ways of allowing technologies and systems to advance in both usages and functionalities. Claire Miller in her New York Times article: "Twitter Serves Up Ideas From Its Followers" speaks about the way in which Twitter in its infancy allowed its users to aid in its augmentation and expansion. From being open to its users ideas and desires, we now see such features as the ability to retweet and list. Apple is extremely into allowing its users to be apart of the creative process via its beta programmers initiatives, in that users are allow to use Apple softwares that are in development to eminently be apart of the next iOS upgrade. This allows users to provide feedback as to which optimizes what will be available within the next upgrade.

Term project

So it's here! The new iPhone 8 and iPhone X. I would like to dedicate my term research project to focusing on the new iPhone (which of course was discussed yesterday at the Apple conference), even though a device is not technically new media. It is however a portal to new media. I will focus on the new facial recognition functionality and discuss the pros and cons, with respect to the Internet and social networking. I definitely think that advancement in artificial intelligence is the new wave of the future. Interestingly enough, facial recognition is very common in places like China. I want to explore how facial recognition influences the perhaps inhibits the online/social media experience. I would also like to track current trends and hopefully discover the direction that technology experts are postured in with this advancement! Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

V irtual worlds or virtual technology can be used in a multiplicity of ways, including an augmented social media experience to even a virtual educational purpose, such as the teaching tool used for nurses, according to Stephanie Simons' article in The Wall Street Journal: "Avatar II: The Hospital." Typically, virtual worlds consist of visiting a sites via a virtual character, known as an avatar that is usually designed by an end-user to interact with other virtual users. These avatars are then used in a quasi-realistic interaction with others within virtual environments. Real life experiences and scenarios are played out in these virtual worlds. Virtual worlds foster a great sense of creativity, as one can be portrayed as whomever or whatever they want to be. In many cases, one can chose an identity of the opposite gender or even as a different species, or even a different nationality. They can foster or even express different personality or communication traits that th

Blog about Twitter

The idea of the integration of a social medial tool, such as Twitter into the learning environment is quite far from most academic norms. Twitter is typically used to express opinion-based idea - we have seen that concept almost literally as day to day American politics has succumbed to profuse, over-zealous, and over-reaching daily Tweets by the current American President. However, that does not mean that the 140, soon to possibly 280 character limit that uniquely defines the twitter experience, cannot be repurposed to evidence based, academic approved content. Another advantage is the instant availability that Twitter allows for, when viewing its content. Blackboard for academic use is a great tool but perhaps its usefulness and favorable opinion is only because it is widely used by many academic institutions. When posting blackboard content, it is ready available much like Twitter but the login process and then navigation of the site to get to the discussion board can be quite cum
